Meet Dana Murray

She’s a licensed esthetician (aka skin expert), professional beauty blogger, a self-proclaimed “science nerd” who lives and breathes all things skin care, and just an all-around great human. We’re lucky to have her as a part of our crew and are super excited to continue sharing her insights into the world of skin with you. Wondering what a good skin care routine is? To get started, she’s gonna tell us why taking good care of skin is so important along with the recommended steps to take in your skin care routine. What Is Skin Care?

Skin care is the practice of maintaining and protecting your skin's health and treating certain skin conditions like dryness, acne, dark undereye circles, etc. 

Why Is a Good Skin Care Routine Important?

Considering our skin is our largest organ, taking care of it is pretty essential! By doing so, it helps to slow down the signs of aging, and it helps to protect the skin from the elements like dry or cold climates and the sun's rays, which can contribute to aging and skin cancer. Skin care is also self-care and carving out a part of your day to take care of yourself, is also essential. But let's face it, when you look good, you feel good; it's pretty much science! 

 

Important Skin Care Products & Recommended Routine Order 

Taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be complicated or include a ten-step routine. Less truly is more when it comes to skin care so here are the necessary steps for a balanced skin care routine that anyone can follow.

Cleanser: Cleansing is the foundation of a good skin care routine.

Serum: Serums are one of the most result-driven and concentrated products in the realm of skin care.

Moisturizer: Moisturizers come in a wide variety of formats and are made to keep our skin feeling smooth, hydrated and calm -- all day long.

Eye Cream: The skin around the eye area is significantly thinner than the rest of our face and contains very few oil glands

Face Mask: Face Masks are a great addition to any skin care routine to help target a specific skin care concern.
